Hi, I’m Ananthaa Madhavan — a senior at Marquette High School in Chesterfield, Missouri. I’m currently interested in biomedical engineering, particularly at the intersection of environmental systems, sensing technology, and human health.
I’ve always been drawn to projects that connect real-world data with meaningful impact. Outside of school, I enjoy building small engineering systems, exploring how sensors work, and turning abstract scientific ideas into something visual and interactive.
BreathSafeSTL started as a passion project aimed at understanding how particulate matter and allergens vary across local environments. The goal is to make air quality data more accessible and easier to interpret through simple, visual mapping.
Long term, I want this project to evolve into a real-time environmental monitoring tool that helps communities better understand the air they breathe and make more informed health decisions. While this system will likely only run through the summer, as I will be graduating next year, I hope to continue developing similar engineering and research-based projects in the future.
